CHECK LIST FOR RENTING

   If you are thinking of renting your property use this handy checklist to make sure that you comply with the laws and rules that may be applicable.

· Mortgage Lender

   Make sure that the terms of your lender allow you to rent your property.

· Insurance

   If you don't let your insurance company know that you have let your property, you may not be covered in the event of damage, fire or theft in the property. Check you are covered for public liability.

· Community

   If you are part of a community check that you are allowed to rent your property and what type of rental you can offer.

· Consult local council

   Authority on safety issues your management/letting agent should be able advise you.

· Utility bills

   If the property is to be rented on a long term basis, decide who and how the bills for electric, water etc., will be paid.

· Freeholders Permission

   This is important if you wish to let a leasehold flat. Speak to our Property Management Department for more information on local rules and contact details of local authorities.
